NCEAS Email Client Setup
NCEAS supports Mozilla Thunderbird and Gmail as desktop email clients. Gmail requires no configuration and includes additional features like Calendaring. For Thunderbird and other clients follow the instructions under Setup Instructions, then Recommended Settings.
Thunderbird

Click File -> New -> Existing Mail Account…

Enter your Name, email address, and password

Click Continue

All settings will be automatically detected for IMAP

Click Done

Apply all recommended Thunderbird settings

Thunderbird to Google Mail Address Book Migration
- Open Thunderbird
- Click on the Address Book button in the toolbar
- Click on Personal Address Book in the sidebar
- Click Tools -> Export -> Format: Comma Separated
- Save file to desktop
- In Google Mail, click Mail -> Contacts -> More -> Import
- Click Choose File and select the file saved from Thunderbird
- Click Import
- Repeat with any other address books in the sidebar
- may require using https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html to export a csv of the Collected Addresses that Google Mail can import
Mail Backups
GMail
Users can backup their webmail from Google using one of the following tools:
